TASTING NOTES
As for many y oung vintages, the 2012 has a beautiful dark purple colour with rich black cherry aromas. A ‘lighter’ vintage port it shows pretty floral element with cedary undertones on the palate. The brandy is well integrated so there is little of the spirit burn that y ou often find with young vintages. This vintage is very approachable showing good balance and elegance – a hallmark of La Rosa’s style. All our ports are made in the ‘house style’ namely slightly drier without any cloying sweetness that can be associated with ports. As with our wines, we search for harmony and equilibrium from our vineyards and we try to enable the grapes to express themselves in the bottle. The La Rosa style is to make well defined wines without too much extraction and tannin.
